Certification bodies attest the conformity of systems, products, services, processes, etc. to the requirements of normative voluntary reference documents.
Accreditation of certification bodies is aimed to granting value and trustfulness to the conformity evaluations they perform.
To be accredited means to guarantee:
i.e. in the Committee for safeguarding impartiality all the interested parties are represented, thus ensuring the same treatment for any company applying for certification
i.e. the autority in charge for issuing certification (Deliberation Committee) is organized in such a way as to ensure the absence of interest conflicts
i.e. it is forbidden to provide consultancy services
i.e. it is necessary that the personnel in charge of certification activity is culturally, technically and professionally qualified
i.e. continuous guarantee of the third party certification validity in the course of time, for market's protection
i.e. international multi-lateral recognition of the accreditation and of the certificates

The presence, in ICEC certificates, of the accreditation body's logo means that the certification was issued under accreditation.
